A photograph of the Welford CentreThe Welford Centre provides a day service to adults with learning disabilities and additional complex needs whose needs cannot be fully met within community settings.

The Welford Centre is based in the Gosforth area of Newcastle. Our service is available Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4pm.

The Welford Centre is a large spacious building all based on one level making it fully accessible to wheelchair users. The building is fully equipped with a variety of specialist moving and handling equipment, physiotherapy equipment, communication aids and other resources including:

  • Rebound Therapy room
  • Sensory room
  • Adult changing rooms with overhead hoists
  • Large dining room
  • Large dining room
  • Kitchens for cookery
  • Art room

Referrals to the Welford Centre are usually made via a social worker from the council's adult social care teams.


If we arrange social care service for you we will ask you about your financial circumstances. We may ask you to pay towards your care services. Your social worker will explain more about our charges when they talk to you about your assessment and support plan. How much you pay depends on your financial circumstances.
