Blue House roundabout

Blue House roundabout is a key junction for commuters, used by tens of thousands of motorists daily. As this junction features as part of our consultation proposals for a Clean Air Zone, we need to consider the outcome of the air quality consultation before we finalise proposals, with consultation on Blue House later this year or early 2020.

Blue House roundabout is part of a key corridor route to the north of the city which includes Killingworth Road and Haddricks Mill junction. We have previously said that we will deliver improvements there, but not all at the same time — we are constructing Killingworth Road, then Haddricks Mill, then Blue House Roundabout.

Did you know?

We set up a Blue House Working Group to work together with members of the public and community groups following the public backlash to our proposals in the summer of 2016. You can find out more here
