Transport Assessments, Travel Plans and Parking Guidance

The Council is consulting on the draft revised ‘Transport Assessments, Travel Plans and Parking Developer’ Guidance.

The current developer guidance was approved at Cabinet in 2015 and sets out the fundamental transport considerations to ensure schemes meet policy objectives, foster sustainable travel choices, improve the quality of life for people in our communities and ensure development is suitably managed for the continuing prosperity of the City.

It provides information on Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans, Delivery and Servicing Plans, Construction Management Plans, cycle and car parking requirements and electric vehicle charging.

It has a key a role in supplementing the Local Plan’s transport policies contained in the Core Strategy and Urban Core Plan (CSUCP) adopted in March 2015 and the Development and Allocations Plan (DAP) adopted in June 2020, and is a material consideration in the development process and helps ensure development proposals are submitted with the necessary information.

A number of amendments are required throughout the document however, the most significant changes are needed to ensure the guidance aligns with the adopted DAP.

The updated document would supersede the current developer guidance on ‘Transport Assessments, Travel Plans and Parking’ 2015.

The consultation is for 6 weeks from 4th February 2022 until 18th March 2022.
