Newcastle City Council (City Transport) are seeking an experienced time served Workshops Manager to take up a permanent position to manage our Heavy Goods & Horticultural /Plant Workshops at Newington Road NE6 5BD.
City Transport maintains and repairs a diverse range of vehicles, plant and horticultural equipment for use accross the city as well as having two MOT stations, testing class 4,5 & 7 vehicles, licenced taxis and hackney carriages.
You will lead the teams, primarily in our Heavy Goods & Horticultural Workshops at Newington Road.
We are looking for someone with the skills and experience to achieve the effective and efficient maintenance, diagnostics and repair of the council’s HGV & Horticultural vehicle fleet.
You will have Managed/Supervised within a motor vehicle engineering workshop environment and held a Motor Vehicle Engineering NVQ level 3 or equivalent. A Managment or Health & Safety qualification would be desirable.
The role requires a proactive, problem solving approach and will contribute to the development of the pesent operations.
The successful applicant will be self-starters, well organised, methodical, and resilient in a busy workshop environment.
This is a hands-on role requiring a good degree of energy and enthusiasm.
