We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual with a passion for improving recycling and the environment to join our Waste & Recycling Engagement Team.
The role involves interacting and communicating with residents, schools, students and community groups to deliver information in an engaging way to help improve recycling participation across the city.
You will have responsibility for identifying households that require education and support to improve their recycling and work within our diverse communities to achieve this.
The future of recycling is changing, and Newcastle City Council Waste & Recycling Engagement Team are involved in a number of recycling initiatives and projects such as small electrical waste collections, pop-up community recycling events and supporting the future introduction of food waste collections.
You will help coordinate and support the city’s network of community litter picking volunteers to help keep Newcastle clean and encourage residents to “Love Where You Live”.
The role is varied and can be physically demanding at times with regular outdoor working in all weathers. The ability to drive is essential as you will be travelling to all areas of the city.
Working hours would be 37 hours per week Monday to Friday with shift hours between 6am and 4pm to be confirmed.
