About the Job

We are recruiting a Specialist Building Control Surveyor to work in the Building Control Service.

Our Specialist Building Control Surveyors have the knowledge and experience to undertake building control functions across all building types without direct supervision. This includes higher risk buildings that will require a building control licenced specialist to support the Building Safety Regulator.

In addition to building regulations administration and enforcement, the Building Control team is responsible for providing a wide range of other services including response to dangerous structures, demolition notice administration, certification of safety at sports grounds, highway licencing and street naming and numbering. The team also takes a lead role in work across the council and with external partners in supporting the initiatives and obligations of the national Building Safety Programme.

The team are agile, with flexible opportunity to work from office base or home location providing the operational needs of the service are met. A range of IT equipment is provided to support home and agile working.

The Candidate

You should be a registered building inspector to Class 2, Category G & H. Alternatively you should be able to demonstrate that you are currently in the process of completing a competency assessment validation pathway to achieve this.
