£30,296 - £33,024 per annum, pro rata (actual £15,148 - £16,512 per annum)

18.5 hour per week (average). Either on a 2/3 day 2 week rota or 2.5 days per week.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated senior technician to work within our busy licensing team. The work consists of working on all licensing issues including premise licensing, sex establishment, gambling and pavement cafes.

You will be based in the licensing team managing your own caseload and building relationships with licence holders, members and the public. You will be experienced in preparing legal documents and notices and will represent the service at meetings, inquiries and in court proceedings.

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic technician to work as part of Newcastle City Council's Licensing Authority to undertake a wide range of licensing functions including compliance and enforcement and also developing the delivery of a busy service supporting Newcastle’s busy licensed trade, new business and the community.

This is an exciting time to join the team as we address the challenges and support the redevelopment of the licensed trade as part of our day and night-time economies. In addition to a very busy period with new applications and licensing change, we are currently in the process of delivering our new Statement of Licensing Policy and preparing new Gambling Statement of Principles and implementing a new pavement licence regime.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required with proven ability to deliver services. Ideally the candidate will have significant experience of dealing with licensing issues. You should be competent in using licensing IT systems to record and implement actions and manage your own caseload.
