We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and well-organised Science Technician, whose role it will be to work alongside our Science Department. There are nine full time Science Teachers at Benfield School and, as the sole Science Technician, experience of working in a similar environment would be advantageous, but not essential. The successful candidate will be expected to provide technical and logistical support across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 in Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Working alongside students and subject teachers is central to this role and therefore the ability to build strong and positive relationships is essential, as well as a flexible and adaptable approach to working in a busy and demanding environment.

The successful candidate will ideally have demonstrable experience of working with the types of equipment found within a Science Department including use and preparation of chemicals. A knowledge of health and safety issues is also important.

NEAT is highly committed to the professional development of its staff and identifying talent for the future. This is reflected in the desire for the successful candidate to attend all school/trust training days to access CPD. We also provide access to the Local Government Pension Scheme, a generous annual leave entitlement and have an accrued time policy.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. It is essential that all staff and volunteers share this commitment. You will need to have an enhanced criminal records check by the Disclosure and Barring Service.

A completed application form, criminal records declaration form and equalities monitoring form must be submitted by 9am on Friday 28 August 2020 to: Lilian Reeson, email address: lilian.reeson@benfield.newcastle.sch.uk Please note that we do not accept CVs.

Please contact Lilian Reeson, PA to the Principal, on 0191 228 4097 if you have any queries about the application process.

The interviews will take place Tuesday 8 September 2020.
