Children’s Social Care Services
Meeting the Challenge of COVID-19 in Children’s Care
Fixed term contracts 3-12 months
We are committed to providing quality care and achieving positive outcomes for the young people we look after, especially in these challenging times. We are looking for a number of highly motivated Residential Care Officers (RCO’s) to join our team to provide cover across our homes and help us to staff new temporary children’s accommodation for an initial period of 3 months. We also have 2 maternity cover opportunities for a period of 10-12 months.
The successful applicants will work in homes across the City and will need to be resourceful, with the ability to establish relationships quickly whilst working as part of a team towards agreed aims and objectives. Successful applicants may also have the opportunity to apply for any permanent posts as they arise as internal candidates.
You will have good communication and IT skills and a clear understanding of needs of children and their families. You will have experience in working with vulnerable children and young people, who at times display challenging behaviours. Experience of residential care and a recognised social work qualification or NVQ level 3 is desirable. The successful applicants will be required to follow a rota, working shift patterns and sleep-ins (including weekends) as required.
We are committed to protecting and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. This post is working in regulated activity. If you are successful we will undertake additional recruitment checks which will include a check to see if you have had any criminal convictions, a check of police information and we will check the barred list(s). It is a criminal offence for a barred individual to apply for a job in regulated activity.
Applicants will be interviewed where possible using video technology. Where this is not possible applicants will be invited to attend face to face interviews which will be conducted in line with the Government’s social distancing guidance.
