What do we want?

A motivated and highly skilled accountant who wants to make a difference to the children and young people of Newcastle. You will work within the Education Division. You will have a diverse role supporting many aspects of education funding whilst contributing to the strategic financial planning of the Dedicated Schools Grant (DSG). Your role will incorporate the financial management of the DSG Schools and High Needs Blocks, including monitoring of the DSG management plan. You will provide advice and guidance to partners and will undertake change projects to improve financial processes and services. It will be a challenging but rewarding role, presenting opportunities for creativity and service development within education and finance.

What about you?

You will be a fully qualified accountant with experience of a complex organisation. Your strong financial skills will include budget monitoring, multi-year financial planning, assessing financial sustainability, presenting complex information and system development. Equally important, are highly developed communication skills, and the ability to foster positive relationships with internal and external partners. Experience of education funding is certainly desirable but, more importantly, is having the drive and aptitude to learn. You will be part of a team that also delivers valued services to maintained schools in the city and you will work closely with teams within the Division, schools and the Chief Finance Officer Directorate.
