Newcastle City Learning is seeking to recruit a full-time tutor, who is passionate about working with disadvantaged learners, helping them to make the transition back into learning after a protracted absence. An ability to deliver practical projects or a construction multi-skill specialism would be an advantage, as learners will be engaged in developing some basic construction skills. Applicants should have experience of working with learners who have social, emotional, behavioural, and poor mental health issues. Getting young learners back on track and helping them back into education, however, can be a very rewarding role. If you are interested in making a real difference in young people’s lives then we would welcome your interest in this role.
We require someone who is confident, proactive and adaptable. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential for this role. You will need to be flexible as you will be required to work across a number of locations.
We are committed to protecting and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. This post is working in regulated activity. If you are successful, we will undertake additional recruitment checks which will include a check to see if you have had any criminal convictions, a check of police information and we will check the barred list(s). It is a criminal offence for a barred individual to apply for a job in regulated activity.
Use of own vehicle, current valid driving licence, or access to mobility transport and a willingness to travel are an advantage for this role.
Candidates should hold relevant teacher training qualifications, or be willing to undertake relevant professional development in this respect.
