NEET Engagement Worker, Careers and Guidance Team
1 year fixed term
This is an exciting opportunity to join our Careers and Guidance team as we develop our community outreach to young people who are NEET or potentially NEET.
The NEET Engagement worker will play an important role providing information, advice and support to young people 13-19 in relation to jobs and careers and in providing support to the wider CEIAG offer the team delivers across the city. This is a 1 year, 18.5 hour post, with exact working patterns open to discussion.
This post will focus on reaching out to young people who are NEET, in their homes and in the community, to support them to engage in education and training provision as well as supporting our delivery from Work and Thrive Central in the Central Library, our other outreach centres and undertaking telephone follow up.
The post holder will have a significant level of direct contact with a range of young people, many of whom will be reluctant to engage, or lack confidence. Applicants should therefore have experience of working with young people on an individual basis and be aware of the barriers young people face in their transition to adult life.
Newcastle City Council offers:
* A competitive salary
* Access to Local Government pension scheme.
* Generous annual leave in addition to Bank Holidays, with the ability to buy additional leave annually.
* A bespoke induction.
* Various flexible working options.
* Agile working, enabling both home working and office based working
* A generous Flexi Scheme.
* Access to Occupational Health, Mindfulness sessions and other wellbeing initiatives.
* Access to various salary sacrifice schemes - covering cars, white electrical goods and tax efficient saving contributions towards your pension.
*Discounted travel pass.
We are looking for people who are innovative, have experience of working with young people and understand their needs as they transition from education, plus have a relevant level 3 qualification.
