Learning Officer - Art Galleries Team Laing/Shipley

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the art galleries team working across the Laing and Shipley Art Galleries in a key role. We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic gallery educator to develop, lead and manage the learning programmes for Laing and Shipley Art Galleries helping our visitors and schools connect with our collections in new and accessible ways.

You will have relevant and significant experience of developing, managing and delivering educational activities and events within a museum, arts, or heritage sector, and of working with groups across a range of ages and abilities. You will be pro-active and able to demonstrate a commitment to the value of learning from collections and exhibitions.

With a proven track record in management, you will also be an effective team worker with the confidence and ability to work closely with colleagues in partner and stakeholder organisations locally, regionally and nationally, to ensure the development and delivery of engaging, high quality products and services. It is essential that the post holder has the ability to work on their own initiative, is self-motivated, a good communicator and very well organised.

We are strongly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure and a range of other recruitment checks.

As this post involves working with children, vulnerable adults or dealing with sensitive information, written references will be taken up and made available to interviewers before the final selection stage, even if you indicate otherwise.
