Cragside Primary School has been at the heart of High Heaton community for over 80 years. We are Ofsted “Outstanding” and are proud to be a welcoming and caring school in which every child is enabled to succeed. We provide an engaging and high-quality education for every child in our care. Our enthusiastic staff team is comprised of experienced, reflective practitioners who are excited by the challenge of ensuring that all our children are fully prepared for life in the 21st century.

We aim for excellence in achievement for all children in literacy and numeracy and across the wider curriculum. Our children are encouraged to take an active part in their learning and we provide them with a rich variety of experiences which promote their personal, social, physical and creative development. Our school has a very strong community spirit and well-established home-school partnership. A committed governing body and PTFA also contribute positively to the ethos of our school.

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and inspiring teacher and SENCO to join our fantastic staff team. The role is full time, permanent and will include additional release time. We warmly invite applications from both experienced SENCO’s and those looking for opportunities to take on a new role.

You will be a strong, experienced teacher with a degree and a teaching qualification.

You will have an understanding of the requirements of the SEND code of practice and the wider issues associated with the inclusion of all children, and be willing to work towards the SENCO qualification.

You will also have excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and work to deadlines, remaining calm under pressure.

As SENCO, you will have problem solving, a child-centred approach, and be able to work effectively with families, staff and other agencies. You would also be part of our school’s Senior Leadership Team.

This school is strongly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful applicant will be required to obtain a DBS from the Disclosure and Barring Service and a range of other recruitment checks.
