The Governors of Byker Primary wish to appoint an Attendance and Welfare officer who has a passion for engaging with families to improve attendance and parental engagement school wide.

The successful candidate will actively endorse and deliver the vision of our school, ‘Children First: Raising standards and transforming lives’, whilst facilitating all children to be successful learners, confident individuals and responsible citizens through regular attedance.

You will need to demonstrate your commitment to working as part of a highly successful team, the aim of which is to ensure that all children receive outstanding and inspirational educational experiences which help them fulfil their potential through regular attendance to school.

You will work with a range of stakeholders to provide a comprehensive service and seek out new and innovative ways to improve attendance.

You will link with Local Authorities’ existing attendance teams and provide additionally, support and advice to the Headteacher and Governing Body surrounding school wide attendance data.

This role will involve supporting staff in schools, ensuring all statutory educational requirements are fulfilled and liaising closely with the Headteacher. You will need to provide regular, detailed, and accurate reports for senior staff, detailing progress against a range of KPIs and plans for further development and improvement.

Ideally you will have experience of working with schools, vulnerable learners and families, but we are happy to offer training to candidates who can demonstrate the right qualities, commitment and enthusiasm to the role. We are looking for a skilled and effective Attendance and Welfare Officer with enthusiasm and energy who:

- Is creative and proactive in their approach to Attendance and Welfare.

- Is an inclusive practitioner with ambitious standards and high expectations for all pupils.

- Is well organised and highly motivated.

- Leads by example with integrity, positivity and resilience

- Possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills and enjoys working in a team.

- Has a track record of leading and sustaining school improvement in relation to attendance, working with the Headteacher and other external agencices.

- Can collate and analyse pupil data and formulate action plans to address weaknesses and accelerate pupil progress through challenge and support of families. Processing pupil daily attendance, including monitoring of unauthorised attendance and late offenders.
