This is a permanent full-time post, however part-time would be considered for the right candidate. This leadership role will include both class teaching responsibilities and whole school responsibility for wider curriculum enrichment.

St John Vianney Catholic Primary School is a highly respected two-form entry Catholic school providing a good education for all our pupils. The opportunity has arisen to appoint an enthusiastic, committed, excellent classroom teacher, combined with Assistant Head Leadership responsibilities, who is sympathetic and supportive to the aims and ethos of our Catholic School. The successful candidate will be expected to make a full contribution to the life of the school following the Catholic ethos. Since April 2022, we have been part of the Bishop Bewick Catholic Education Trust, a family of 39 schools, made up of 5 secondary schools and 34 primary schools from across Newcastle, North Tyneside and Northumberland, in the north of the Diocese.

As the Assistant Head, you will work alongside the Headteacher to provide vision, direction and leadership in order to ensure that the school builds upon our strengths and remains a thriving learning community. You would initially have responsibility for growing the ambition of the wider creative curriculum and enrichment.

BBCET, the local governing committee and the Diocese are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and vulnerable adults and the Head Teacher must ensure that the highest priority is given to following the guidance and regulations to safeguard them. The successful candidate will be required to undergo an Enhanced Check for Regulated Activity from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
