As Assistant Director Transport you will lead the work of the Transport team to develop, prioritise and deliver our transport strategy and programmes for Newcastle. In this role you will be given the opportunity shape our City’s transport future.

The role will involve significant partnership working, as well as an appreciation of how transport sits within our region’s overall economic, social and environmental programmes. As a member of Place Directorate’s Leadership Team you will be a key interface with the Council Leadership, partners and Stakeholders both inside and beyond the organisation to deliver our political priorities.

You will have a strong background in Transport with experience of leading major transport infrastructure programmes and related services and be able to demonstrate a significant track record of developing cleaner and greener transport networks. You will also need to have a proven track record of effective leadership, strategic thinking and change management, including supporting the empowerment of others to take ownership and accountability of outcomes.

With your proven ability of leadership at senior level you will be able to demonstrate your extensive experience in establishing and sustaining strategic relationships and to balancing the needs of a diverse team.
