We have succeeded in bringing the Great Exhibition of the North to Newcastle / Gateshead, progressed the regeneration of Stephenson Quarter and Science Central and delivered the highest number of new houses for decades.

Staff in Financial Services are at the heart of helping elected Members and managers across the council respond to the financial challenges we face in achieving these and other outcomes. Financial systems and processes are being transformed to ensure they are fit for purpose, and we are increasingly focusing our efforts on providing support, advice and insight to help managers manage the financial resources they are responsible for.

We need highly skilled and professionally trained people to ensure we stay on top of the challenges we face, and to make the most of the opportunities that are emerging. We have an opportunity at Accountant level for a highly motivated individual. To be successful you will need excellent financial, technical and communication skills, as well as a demonstrable ability to work well both individually and as part of a team.
