Prioritising public transport

Prioritising public transport

Newcastle is growing with over 21,000 new homes planned by 2030, creating 14,000 new jobs and bringing in new families and communities to our city.

We need to have the right infrastructure in place to help cope with the additional demand this will have our network which is why we’re investing in key junctions across the city and providing greener practical alternatives to car journeys with better walking, cycling and public transport provision.

To help reduce congestion and encourage more people onto public transport, we're prioritising public transport through key junctions.

Some journeys will always need to be done by car but for other times, think about using public transport.

The Department for Transport say every full bus can take up to 75 cars off the road.
