Christmas lights switch on

It doesn't feel like Christmas in the city until the big lights switch-on - which in 2022 takes place on Tuesday November 15.

The Christmas lights will illuminate the city throughout the festive season.

The Bergen tree

For over 70 years we have received a gift of a Christmas tree from the city of Bergen in Norway to symbolise the city’s gratitude to Newcastle for its support and friendship during World War Two.

Once again it will be part of this year’s Christmas celebrations.

Lazer Light City

This New Year will see a stunning display of laser lights fill the night skies across the city.
