There are currently two accreditation schemes operated by Newcastle City Council.

The Newcastle Accreditation Scheme

This scheme is funded by Bridging NewcastleGateshead (BNG) and is run in partnership with landlords and the Newcastle Private Rented Service to promote and improve the private rented sector in Newcastle upon Tyne.

How does the scheme work?

The scheme is free to join and offers a number of real benefits to landlords.  Landlords wanting to join the scheme will need to adhere to an agreed set of standards and a management code of practice.

All properties will be inspected, and if necessary, advice will be given on the works needed to achieve accreditation. When necessary works are completed a certificate and membership card will be issued.

There are two standards of accreditation within the scheme and Properties are accredited for a three year period.

For more information on the Newcastle Accreditation Scheme please contact Kobir Ahmed at the Private Rented Service. Phone: 0191 277 1438 or email: kobir.ahmed@newcastle.gov.uk
