The ‘Code of Practice for the Co-ordination of Street Works and Works for Road Purposes and Related Matters’ Chapter 8 notes that works must not start before the expiry of the notice period, except where an early start has been agreed with the street authority. All early starts are subject to the agreement of the street authority with contact being made by the utility/promoter to the street authority.
Although early starts should be the exception, not the rule. Please be aware that permissions will be given on a first come first served basis, based on the 3 month major notice being served.
While we encourage the serving of the forward planning notices, these are just an indication of your works, not confirmation. A 3 month major notice will be required before any early starts are considered.
In order that we manage and coordinate works on our network we require anyone working on our highway to ensure that they comply with this Code of Practice.
Contact can be made direct to the streetworks admin team email@example.com giving details of your notice number, location and any justification for this request- please be aware that any early start requested will be investigated and a response sent to you.
Unforeseen circumstances can delay the completion of works, so the utility or work promoter may request an extension. A utility may give a Notice of Revised Duration Estimate and must provide full justification for the extension. A work promoter must contact the streetworks admin team firstname.lastname@example.org giving details of your notice number, location and any justification for this request. Please be aware that any extension requests will be investigated and a response sent to you.
