Renew your Hackney Carriage or Private Hire driver's licence

Whether a hackney carriage, private hire or dual licenced taxi driver your renewal form will be emailed to you four to six weeks prior to your licence expiry date.

It is your responsibility to ensure your licence has been renewed before it expires.

If you try to submit you renewal after the expiry date your application will be considered a brand new application.

What is needed to renew a licence

You will need to submit the online renewal application form before your licence expiry date. You will need to upload the following documents when completing the online application form:

• your completed online renewal application 
• your driving licence
• your right to work document (if necessary)
• any other required documentation

Disclosure and Barring service check

Your renewal form will state whether a new Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required.

Medical information

Your renewal form will also state whether a new medical is required.

If a medical is required you should have received a medical form with you driver renewal.
