Hackney Carriage Vehicle Licence Renewal

Hackney Carriage licence renewal application forms will be emailed to proprietors 4 to 6 weeks prior to licence expiry. The vehicle must be booked in and presented for test prior to the expiry of the vehicle licence.

Before a licence is issued the vehicle must pass the vehicle inspection.

If the vehicle is less that two years old the vehicle will be subject to an annual vehicle compliance test. If the vehicle is greater than two years old the vehicle will be subject to an additional six monthly interim test.

Licence and test fees must be paid at the time the application is submitted.

Processing and timescales:

Subject to satisfactory vehicle examination and presentation of application and appropriate documents, the Authority will endeavour to process your licence. Vehicle and plate markings will be securely attached to the vehicle at the time of examination.

Did you know?

Vehicle renewal forms are emailed to proprietors 4-6 prior to the vehicle expiry date.

It is the proprietors responsibility to  book the vehicle in for a vehicle inspection test.

Proprietors can book their vehicle in for test 28 days prior to the licence expiry date.

Proprietors are advised to book their vehicle in for test at least 7 days prior to the licence expiry date.
