Property Available for Community Asset Transfer
Expressions of interest are currently being invited from groups interested in taking on an asset transfer of the following building:
Kenton Resident’s Association, Kenton Crescent, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE3 4NS
Closing Date: Wednesday, 4th May 2023
The building is a single storey hall of approximately 225 square metres, within a fenced, grassed area. It is of wood construction with a felt, mainly pitched roof . Access is off Kenton Crescent and Kenton Road via a walkway.
The Council is seeking expressions of interest for this property from groups who would be able to take a lease of it and manage it for the benefit of the local community. The building is currently leased to the Residents’ Association. The Association have informed the Council that they intend to surrender their lease once a new tenant has been identified so that a new lease can be put in place.
Any group taking a lease on the building would be responsible for all costs and outgoings, including repairs and maintenance. The building currently has a “D” EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) and regulations are expected to require that the building must be improved to a C standard by 2027 and B standard by 2030. Anyone taking a lease on the building should plan for the investment needed to comply with these legal requirements.
Interested parties should complete the expression of interest form by Wednesday, 4 May 2023. The form can be downloaded and saved to your computer for completion.
