How can I get involved?

The Council recognises that people like to be able to get involved in a range of different ways. Your Communities Officer is responsible for finding out how local people want to be involved and ensuring that the methods they choose are available to them. For example in one ward residents may be able to participate and have their say at public meetings and in community forums focusing on crime and community safety. In another ward residents may prefer to give their views via email or through occasional questionnaires received through the post.

Ways you can get involved

There are many ways in which you can give your views and participate in your local area. You don't have to be part of a community group or attend meetings to get your voice heard.

If you don't have time to attend meetings you could contact your local Communities Officer (PDF, 37.27KB) to let us know what you think. We want to involve everyone and let the views of all different people living in the area to be heard.

Your Communities Officer can organise a variety of things to help you attend meetings such as:
•Creche
•Induction Loops
•Information such as agendas and papers in different formats and languages
•Someone to sign for you
•Translator to be present

If you need any further information about this please contact your Communities Officer.
