16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based

The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is an annual International campaign that kicks off on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and runs until 10th December, Human Rights Day.

Don't be a bystander

The Violence Against Women and Girls services and organisations from across Newcastle work together to provide support and recovery services for women and girls who have experienced gendered violence.

During 16 Days of Activism 2019 we are also joining our voices to talk about the spectrum of violence women and girls experience throughout their lives.

We know from our work with women and girls that each person’s experience is unique.

We also know that this violence and abuse happens because of the oppression of women and girls and that women and girls will not achieve true equality while they are still more likely to experience violence and abuse.
