Newcastle International Airport has been crowned ‘Star UK Airport’ at the Travel Bulletin Star Awards. It is the second year in a row it has won the award, which is voted for by the UK travel industry. In winning the award, Newcastle International Airport was celebrated for its support of local travel agents.

Cllr Nick Kemp, Leader of Newcastle City Council, said: “Newcastle International Airport is an incredible asset to our city and the wider North East, opening up our special region to the rest of the world.

“As a proud board member of the airport, I’d like to extend my congratulations to the entire team for their continued success and I’m really pleased everyone involved is receiving the recognition they deserve.

“Whether it’s airside or ground staff, retail, security or the wider supply chain, everyone plays their part in providing passengers with an excellent travel experience or ensuring travellers from around the world receive a memorable welcome when they first touch down in the North East.”

The latest success comes just two weeks after the airport received an ‘airport of the year’ award at the prestigious Routes World Conference in Istanbul, Turkey.
