Bin collections

There are no changes to collections over the Christmas and New Year period.

Recycling centres

Our recycling centres at Brunswick, Byker and Walbottle are open every day except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.

On Christmas Eve (December 24) and New Year’s Eve (December 31) all three sites close at 4pm.

For more information about visiting see our page on:

During the festive period our Wastebot permit system, which allows larger vehicles to access Brunswick recycling centre, is suspended. It will resume on Tuesday 3 January 2023.

Sites will also not be accepting rubble and plasterboard (to allow more space to accept other types of rubbish)

Our Sandhills garden waste recycling centre is closed from December 24 to January 2. It will reopen on Tuesday January 3.
