At Kenton we are passionate about providing the very best education possible for young people in our city, our region and nationally and our strong and committed team share our vision of ensuring all our students not only reach their potential but that they are confident, happy and resilient students who treat each other with compassion and respect.
We are seeking a teacher of Food Technology to join an expanding team, working initially with KS3 groups, but with the aim of eventually supporting Hospitality and Catering across all key stages.
Our Technology team is a multi-skilled faculty comprising of 8 teachers and 2 part-time technicians. At Kenton our KS3 students experience all specialist technology areas, which help to provide an engaging curriculum offer which includes Food, Electronics, Resistant Materials and Engineering. The curriculum starts as a carousel curriculum, where KS3 students explore the fundamental skills needed across a range of disciplines, leading to a range of BTEC and A-Level Post 16 pathways. At KS4 students can choose to study from a range of Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications including BTEC Engineering, Hospitality and Catering, Resistant Materials and Hair and Beauty, which are all becoming very popular and successful routes for learners. At KS5, we offer Level 3 routes into Engineering, Hospitality and Catering and Hair and Beauty which are also popular and well subscribed.
The faculty is well resourced with an ICT design suite, laser cutters, CNC routers, metal working lathes, Hair and Beauty salons, as well as two fully equipped Hospitality and Catering kitchens, where the successful candidate would be primarily based.
If you are the person we are looking for you will work closely with the Hospitality subject lead to help strengthen and develop the Technology Hospitality and Catering offer. You will possess a broad base of subject knowledge, a proven track record of effectiveness and impact as a classroom teacher, and strong analytical skills with the ability to use data effectively to track progress and raise achievement. If you have the skills, commitment and enthusiasm to succeed in this role, we want to hear from you.
