The planning department is key to delivering our strategic plan and the priorities for our residents and communities. We have a fully functioning and well-resourced planning service that protects the interests of the city, while creating the homes, infrastructure and environment we desperately need. Planning is central to supporting the economy and we will look to the service to develop plans to promote and expand the economy, in line with our regeneration ambitions. In becoming a greener, more sustainable city, we will look to this service to develop policies which promote green and sustainable development, working closely with our communities and stakeholders.

As a Planning Graduate, you will work on the development of evidence and support policy development connected to planning policy, promoting sustainable development. You work will help to deliver the Local Plan. In taking on this role, you will make an important and positive contribution to the development of our city, supporting the delivery of our corporate objectives contributing to addressing climate change, poverty and the cost of living crisis.

This is a fixed term post for 2 years.

About you

You will be a motivated and ambitious individual ideally with some experience in planning policy and knowledge relating to local plans.

You will be a strong, open and transparent communicator, with excellent verbally and written skills and be comfortable engaging with a wide range of people.
