Health & Social Care Officers play a vital role by supporting people in their own homes across the City of Newcastle to improve their quality of life. People want to remain as independent in their own home for as long as possible and our Community Reablement Service is here to support them do that. This is a highly personalised service which enables people to do things for themselves.

These posts do not require specific experience or professional qualifications. What they really need is your caring approach, your patience, and your commitment to making a real difference to people’s lives. Once in post we would support you through a 3-month comprehensive induction and training program, learning all aspects of the role alongside our experienced colleagues.

Maintaining the dignity of people must be always a priority and successful applicants must be able to deliver care and support with great sensitivity whilst demonstrating a strong commitment to promoting independence.

Being able to work shifts, weekends and split shifts on a rota basis is essential

You will work a two-week pattern of four days in week one and three days in week two with every other weekend off. This pattern is a guaranteed 50-hour fortnight and weekend, and evening enhancements are paid as are travel expenses and access to other benefits schemes. You will be provided with a uniform and work phone.

Two-week pattern, working split shifts on each day.

*Morning shifts: 7:30am - 12:08pm or 8am - 12:38pm

*Evening shifts: 4pm - 6pm or 6pm - 8pm or 8pm - 10pm
