Community Safety Support Officer (Neighbourhoods)

21 hours a week (Monday, Tuesday and Friday - hours flexible)

We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated Community Safety Support Officer to work within the Community Safety Team. The focus of this role is to work with partners to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour and improve confidence in neighbourhoods.

The role will involve a lot of walking/patrolling neighbourhoods to engage with residents and become a trusted part of the community.

You will heavily support the reduction of environmental crime, reporting incidents, and engaging with communities, stakeholders and other partners to assist in tackling problem areas.

You will also facilitate and/or participate in local projects and community partnerships to support the priorities of Safe Newcastle.

You should have a good understanding of the types of issues that affect neighbourhoods as well as a sound knowledge of crime and anti-social behaviour and techniques to tackle issues.

Communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this role.

Ideally the candidate will have experience or a good knowledge of

<li>community consultation and engagement techniques. </li>

<li>You should be competent in using IT systems. </li>

<li>It is essential that you have a willingness to occasionally work out of standard hours.</li>
