We are seeking a Careers Team Manager to join the School Effectiveness Team at Newcastle City Council.

You will lead the Careers and Guidance Team, providing support and guidance to some of the most vulnerable young people in the city, securing the next steps of their education journey.

You will be a proactive, innovative leader with excellent communication skills who can develop the work of the team and broaden opportunities on offer to our young people.

These are challenging times for education and those young people whose need for support is greatest. This is a high profile role within the School Effectiveness Service and within the Council and you will represent the interests of the young people of Newcastle locally, regionally and nationally. A detailed knowledge and understanding of current issues in and the delivery of information, advice and guidance services is essential.

You will be analytical and have a good understanding of schools, school systems and multi-agency working to support positive outcomes for young people.

Working with secondary school leaders, and increasingly those in the primary sector, you will understand the challenges faced by school leaders and be able to offer both support and challenge.
