How to get involved
Overview and Scrutiny is committed to being open and inclusive. The committees facilitate the involvement of communities and individuals in the process. You can get involved in the following ways:
Attend a meeting
Details of meeting dates can be found by clicking on the relevant committee above.
Submit a request for a Scrutiny Review
You can submit a request for a Scrutiny Review to be undertaken by the relevant scrutiny committee. The issues you believe should be investigated must affect residents of Newcastle.
Full details of the issue you would like a committee to scrutinise and the reasons for the request must be given.
You may submit a request to the appropriate scrutiny contact officer in writing or by e-mail.
If you need any advice before you submit your request, please do not hesitate to contact us.
After you have submitted a formal request for a scrutiny review, you will be contacted within 10 working days, following which;
Your request will be considered for submission to the relevant scrutiny committee;
The committee will decide whether it wishes, or is able, to undertake the suggested review;
If agreed, it will be scheduled into the committee's future work programme;
You will be informed of the committee's decision and, if your request has been successful, you will be kept fully informed of its progress.
