We are committed to promoting equalities and tackling discrimination. We will take action to make sure everyoun who works, lives or socialises in our city has equal access to all our services. We provide a variety of services to help support residents and visitors take part in the social, cultural and economic wealth of the city. These services include:

Northern Pride

Newcastle City Council actively supports and promotes the work of Northern Pride. Northern Pride have an overall mission to reduce homophobia, promote awareness of equality and to unite LGBT communities across the region and we know the best way of doing this is to stage a series of events to bring LGBT people and their families and friends together in an environment where they can feel at home, feel safe and ultimately be themselves. For more information please visit the Northern Pride website.

Newcastle City Council actively supports and promotes the 'Mela'. The Mela is a free event, based around Punjabi, Pakistani, Bengali and Hindi and other South Asian cultures, and is open to anyone who wants to learn more, be entertained and meet new people as well as enjoy different music, art and food in the heart of Newcastle. For more information please visit the Mela website.
