How do I apply?

You can apply for most of the courses in the directory using the standard booking form (Word, 374kb) and sending it to wfdadmin@newcastle.gov.uk or by fax to 0191 277 2099 (however, some courses have different booking procedures - see details in the directory for how to book). Please ensure you give an accurate email address on your form as this is how we will communicate with you. If you have applied and heard nothing, please email wfdadmin@newcastle.gov.uk

Costs

Most of the courses are offered free to those working in Newcastle. If you work outside Newcastle, you can still attend most of the courses, but there will be a charge of £100 per day's training, so two-day courses will be charged at £200 and half day courses at £50. If you book a course and do not attend, or do not cancel at least a week before the course, you will be charged. See Booking Information and Charges (Word, 19kb) for full details.

What will I learn?

This training programme will develop your knowledge and skills and support you to explore your own attitudes and values, giving a strong foundation to the sexual health work that you do.  The courses use participative approaches encouraging reflection, sharing of experiences and providing you with a range of activities which you can use in your work with young people and adults.

Accreditation

You can receive different levels of accreditation for the training you have completed through Newcastle Sexual Health Training.  This is a way of ensuring that your commitment to sexual health training is recognised and celebrated.  The accreditation - from the Newcastle Sexual Health Training Group - represents a standard of excellence in sexual health training and demonstrates a real commitment to sexual health and relationships work with your client group. See here for more details (pdf, 99kB).
