Newcastle City Council Building Control Services – Coronavirus Update
This page has been updated following Government announcement of latest national lockdown restrictions on 4 January 2020.
The following arrangements have been put in place to best ensure the safety and welling being of staff and customers by limiting face to face contact during the Coronavirus national lockdown.
If you are undertaking building work, you should continue to notify building control at appropriate stages for inspection in accordance with building regulation requirements.
With few exceptions, building control will respond to site inspection requests with a remote / virtual inspection that avoids the need for the building control surveyor to visit the site in person.
Building control surveyors will respond to all requests by arranging a telephone / email call back with the person undertaking the work to obtain photographic, video or other evidence required in order to assess building regulations compliance in the absence of undertaking a physical site visit.
As an alternative, non-urgent inspections may be postponed until such time as physical site visit can by undertaken when local / national lockdown restrictions are lifted.
To notify us of work or to discuss a planned site inspection please contact the area surveyor directly or alternately you can contact a member of the Building Control team on 07970 634 201 or 07976 594 890.
