Newcastle City Council Building Control Services – Coronavirus Update

(Updated 25/03/2020)

At present we are adjusting our working practices to ensure we are working in line with government guidance issued.

Site inspections

Following on from the Government announcement on the evening of the 24th of March we are now suspending all face to face site inspections.

If building work is still being carried out, you should still notify us at appropriate stages for inspection in line with building regulation requirements.

Building control surveyors will respond to all requests by arranging a telephone call back with the person undertaking the work and will outline the photographic, video or other evidence required as a physical site visit cannot be carried out at this time.

Where possible, inspections will be postponed until such time as physical site visit can by undertaken following the lifting of Government working restrictions.

To notify us of work or to discuss a planned site inspection please contact the area surveyor directly or alternately you can contact a member of the Building Control team on 07970 634 201 or 07976 594 890.

Submitting a Building Regulation Application

We are still accepting Building Regulation Applications and applications are still being validated and registered on the system within 48 hours. At this time, we do request that all applications and supporting documents are submitted electronically.
