Select & Collect

You can again reserve books, audiobooks, DVDs and board games and collect them at your local library. 

Select & Collect is a free service. You can select your items online (see how to below), over the phone (call 0191 278 7878 and ask for "Libraries") or in person in your local library. Collections can currently be made at  City LibraryEast EndGosforthKentonOuter West and West End Libraries.

You need to have a Newcastle Libraries full membership before you can request and borrow items through Select & Collect. If you have an online-only membership, do contact us via email at information@newcastle.gov.uk to upgrade your membership or ask staff in your local library.

 

Go to the library catalogue. Login using your library card number and PIN.

Go to your personal details tab on the left of the page and check your email address is correct. If it isn’t, amend it then click Submit update request.  We'll need a valid email address to notify you when your items are ready to collect.

Use the search bar at the top to look for titles or authors.

If you are only interested in items that are currently on the shelf, click Limit to currently available items in the Refine your search column.

Once you've found the item you want, click Place a reservation.

Choose the library you would like to collect the item from: click on the Pick up location drop-down menu and select your library.

Click Confirm reservation.

Your reserved items are listed in the Reservation tab in your summary.

If the item is available we will send it to your chosen library for collection. Please be aware it can take up to 2 weeks for an item to travel between libraries.
If the item is not available you will be automatically added to a waiting list.

We will notify you via email when the item is ready for you to collect.
