Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums is a creative workplace with passionate teams who are dedicated to ensuring our museums service is engaging and inspiring for all our visitors, partners and stakeholders. Our volunteer programme is essential in supporting each of our 9 museums and archive to welcome visitors, support research, look after our collections and help us to tell rich and diverse stories of the Northeast and beyond.

Underpinning our successful volunteer programme is the support of the Volunteer Co-ordinator and if you are interested in promoting voluntary work and understand the contribution that volunteering can make, then we would love to hear from you.

The role involves providing administration and support for our volunteers as well as their host contacts in the venues. The post will be based at Discovery Museum, Newcastle and will operate across the Tyne & Wear Archives & Museum Service. Homeworking is also possible when appropriate in this role.

You should have knowledge of the issues and needs surrounding volunteers and an enthusiasm for communicating ideas and information. Strong organisational skills and being a flexible, team player is also important. Good oral and written communication skills are essential, as is the ability to deal with people at all levels in the organisation.

You should be computer literate with a working knowledge of MS office software packages, especially SharePoint, Teams, Excel, Word and Outlook.
