Newcastle City Council is recruiting to a Traineeship in Highways

The traineeship is an education and training programme which incorporates work experience, and is aimed at individuals who may not be quite ready to join an Apprenticeship but will benefit from the support offered to prepare them for future Apprenticeship opportunities. This will be a paid training programme and is anticipated to lasts between 12 weeks and 12 months.

We are taking positive action to drive up standards at both a National and Local level and encourage applications from those that do not already hold qualifications at or above the Level of Apprenticeships on offer.

We need to give priority to the employability and skills needs of young people aged under 25 because they have a higher unemployment rate than over 25’s, particularly 16-18 year olds Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET).

We are keen that all sections of the community, including disadvantaged communities within Newcastle upon Tyne such as those parts of the City with low Index of Multiple Depravation (IMD) scores, have the same opportunities in life as other people. We guarantee an interview to candidates from under- represented groups that meet the essential criteria documented on our Person Specification.

Please take the time to read through the supporting information attached to this advert.

It is essential that you list two referees on the application form including email and full contact addresses for both.
