Drayton Road

Newcastle upon Tyne

NE3 3RU.

Required January 2021

Fixed term for 1 year.

Kenton School is a vibrant and inclusive secondary school at the heart of the community in which we serve. With around 1800 students, we are amongst the largest schools in the North East. At Kenton we are passionate about providing the very best education possible for young people in our city, our region and nationally and our strong and committed team share our vision of ensuring all our students not only reach their potential but that they are confident, happy and resilient students who treat each other with compassion and respect.

The Humanities faculty is led by a Head of Humanities and contains heads of department for Geography and History with teams of subject specialists in each. Both subjects follow AQA specifications at KS4 and KS5 and outcomes are improving. The Geography and History departments work hard to create a supportive and welcoming environment for both pupils and staff.

We are seeking a talented and inspiring History specialist to join our team teaching History to Key Stage 4 with some Geography at Key Stage 3. The post is open to both newly qualified teachers and experienced teachers looking for a new challenge.

If you are the person we are looking for, this will be underpinned by a passion for the subject, broad base of subject knowledge and the ability to apply a range of teaching and learning strategies. You will possess the ability to work effectively with all students, engaging them through exciting yet challenging lessons and embedding a culture of positive behaviour for learning. You will be proactive in creating community links to offer a wide range of enrichment activities to support learning. And, most importantly, you will be committed to our school ethos of ‘all different, all equal,’ instilling high expectations in all our students.

In return Kenton School offers fantastic opportunities to committed and enthusiastic teachers and offers tremendous developmental possibilities due to its success, size, facilities and a forward thinking management and staff working together to offer the best available chances for our students.

If you feel you have the experience, skills and attributes to succeed as part of our team, please complete the online form via www.tes.com/jobs/ selecting ‘Quick Apply’ or download an application form from our website www.kenton.newcastle.sch.uk and return it to human.resources@kenton.newcastle.sch.uk.
