Newcastle City Council is seeking to appoint a Senior Public Health Practitioner to work in the Quality Healthcare Portfolio within their passionate and ambitious Public Health team.

We are looking for a dynamic leader who is looking for a challenge, focused on using their public health expertise and experience to make a meaningful improvement to the health and wellbeing of Newcastle residents. The role will involve leading on a key public health agenda and managing a small team, providing evidence-based public health expertise and designing effective programmes and interventions.

This role is focussed on key public health priorities including Healthcare Inequalities, Tobacco Control, Sexual Health Services, Early Intervention and Secondary Prevention, building capacity through partnership working and leadership with our Collaborative Newcastle partners.

Senior Practitioners are expected to have significant experience of working at a strategic level with a broad range of partners across the domains of public health and be passionate about addressing health inequalities.

Applications are sought from individuals with a postgraduate qualification in a public health or related field (or equivalent experience) and be registered as a UKPHR Practitioner (or be working towards registration).

You will have a broad and detailed knowledge of specialist public health practice, including knowledge and experience of developing, implementing and evaluating public health Interventions to improve health and wellbeing and reduce health inequalities within the population, and with experience of strategic leadership.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment with development opportunities. The role will be challenging and varied, and you will need to be flexible, able to work autonomously, and prioritise your workload. You will need excellent oral and written communication skills.
