An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Newcastle Council’s SEND team to support the planning process for educational placements for children and young people with SEND.

Two new posts have been created (fixed term for 1 year) to support the existing processes around consultations for mainstream, special school, and Additional Resourced Provision placements. Working closely with colleagues in various SEND services, you will plan, manage, and coordinate all educational placement consultations for children and young people with and Education, Health, and Care Plan. Ensuring accurate data collection and recording, you will support short- and longer-term capacity planning in specialist provision.

We are looking for people who can develop, implement, and prove working practices as well as build strong relationships with colleagues.

You will work closely with schools to ensure consistency of approach across the city, raising challenge where appropriate, ensuring that the legal requirements of the SEND Code of Practice are met.

You will use your excellent communication and organisational skills, along with your knowledge and experience to ensure a joined up and informed approach to your work. A collaborative approach to working is key. You will have a commitment to accuracy and managing strict statutory timescales as well as sharing good practice, learning points and ideas with colleagues.
