As an outstanding Catholic school, we pride ourselves on providing the best possible standards of education and care for all our pupils and staff. We have a culture of high expectations and support for pupils, their families and our staff team. Our core Gospel Values are encompassed by our mission statement:

“Through following Jesus, we aim to be a caring, happy school, where everyone is valued, appreciated and can reach their full potential. We hope to act justly, love tenderly and walk humbly with our God.”

We are looking to appoint an UKS2 Teacher & KS2 phase leader who has the skills set to lead a core subject across a 2-form entry school, significant maths leadership experience is desirable as initially the subject leadership would be in maths.

The local governing committee and BBCET are both committed to ensuring, not only our pupils, but also our staff team are able to reach their full potential. We invest in and support career development and grow and develop staff at all levels.

In this post, you will be responsible for communication, line management and school improvement delivery both within Upper KS2 phase leadership and a core subject responsibility eg. mathematics across the whole school. This role also involves having full-time responsibility for an UKS2 class ensuring that all pupils access a high-quality education which fully prepares them for the challenges faced at the end of KS2. It should also actively support their transition into KS3 alongside whole school improvement of a core subject.

We are looking for a candidate who:

• Has outstanding subject knowledge and a proven track record in a core subject and/or key stage leadership

• Can demonstrate additional knowledge, vision and skills commensurate with leading a core curriculum subject across a 2-form entry school

• Is an experienced and effective KS2 teacher and has proven wider school leadership skills or potential

• Values and respects children and will actively support the Catholic values across school

• Will work hard to ensure the best outcomes for all of our children

• Is passionate and enthusiastic about primary education and wants to inspire children

• Understands the value of effective parental partnership

• Understands the importance and value of being part of a large teaching team

• Is able to work with all staff to ensure that everyone is able to reach their full potential

What we can offer:

• Well-behaved and engaged pupils who work hard to achieve

• Weekly protected PPA time with the partner teacher and additional management time

• A passionate and caring place of work with hard working and supportive colleagues who are highly motivated and positive

• A vibrant and exciting school where creativity and innovation are rewarded

• An established curriculum with significant strengths, benefitting from 2-form joint planning

• A commitment to professional development including access to the NPQ development programme, whilst funded by the government

St John Vianney Catholic Primary School (part of the Bishop Bewick Catholic Education Trust) is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. In line with the guidance in Keeping Children Safe in Education, schools may carry out an online search as part of their due diligence on shortlisted candidates.
