We have a vacancy for 2 School Crossing Patrol officers. One on the Great North Road in Gosforth and one on the Coast Road in Heaton to support children and adults attending various schools.

The ideal candidates will be excellent time keepers and have very good communication skills to work with the general public.

This role involves assisting children and adults across the road at the start and end of the school day, controlling traffic and communicating with the general public.

The successful applicant should be willing to undergo any training required, have a general understanding of road safety practices and have experience of working with the public.

The post will be for 12 hours per week term time only and is a permanent position.

We are committed to protecting and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. This post is working in regulated activity. If you are successful we will undertake additional recruitment checks which will include a check to see if you have had any criminal convictions, a check of police information and we will check the barred list(s). It is a criminal offence for a barred individual to apply for a job in regulated activity.

As this post involves working with children, vulnerable adults or dealing with sensitive information, written references will be taken up and made available to interviewers before the final selection stage; even if you indicate otherwise.
