Governors of this popular and diverse inner-city school are seeking to appoint an exceptional and experienced School Business Manager due to the retirement of the current post-holder. This is an exciting opportunity to join this popular and successful school as part of their Senior Leadership Team.

We are a larger than average 2 form entry Primary school in the West End of Newcastle. We currently have approximately 470 children on roll, the vast majority of whom speak English as an additional language.

We serve an extremely diverse community and are very proud of our inclusive, supportive culture.

Excellent teaching and learning is at the centre of everything we do, and our highly skilled staff are always looking for ways to improve their practice. Our staff are happy, motivated and willing to go the extra mile.

Canning Street Primary School is a large PFI school with outstanding resources. The school is one of eight schools within the West End Schools Trust (WEST).

You will work alongside a highly professional, supportive and enthusiastic team to raise standards and systems within our support functions, as well as providing key business oriented support to the Head Teacher, other Senior Leaders and your colleagues across the Trust.

We are looking for someone who:

• Can contribute at a strategic and operational level

• Has experience of effectively managing a business, support services and staff

• Has professional knowledge of the following business disciplines to an appropriate level:

- Finance (especially budgets)

- Procurement

- Premises Management

- Health and Safety

- Human Resources

- Governance

• Can demonstrate you are able to manage a team effectively and positively influence others

• Ideally has previously worked as a School Business Manager or in an educational setting
