£28,371 - £31,099 per annum (Pay award pending)

37 hours per week including weekend working, shift work and sleep ins which attract allowances.

We are looking for team members to join existing and new residential care teams, providing high quality care and support for vulnerable young people living our existing homes and our new multi building children’s home. Residential care staff will need to be able to care and support young people in care with a range of needs, including a young person who can present with complex needs and challenging behaviours due to adverse childhood experiences and neurodevelopmental conditions.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate, through their experience, that they are able to remain resilient in the face of extreme behaviours, such as verbal and physical aggression, and understand triggers and the impact that they have on emotional regulation.

Successful candidates will have experience of working with young people who have complex needs such as trauma, mental health difficulties and neurodevelopmental disorders. They will be resourceful in dealing with the challenges of the role working to de-escalate situations and maintain a calm and productive environment. You will be able to establish relationships quickly, and work effectively as part of a team, towards agreed aims and objectives for the home and for the young person living there. You will strive to have clear understanding of needs of young people and their families, and be able to maintain excellent case records.

You will also have experience of medicines administration, and will be skilled in de-escalation techniques and physical interventions, although training will be provided on the approach used in Newcastle.

To succeed in this role you must be highly motivated, have good communication and IT skills Experience of residential care and a recognised social work qualification or NVQ level 3 is desirable and you will have to work shifts as part of a rota, including weekends and sleep ins as required for which generous allowances will be paid.
