1 Temporary Fixed Term Progressed Social Worker (N8) until December 2023.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Progressed Social Worker (N8) to work as part of Newcastle’s Safeguarding Adult Unit within the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH), providing a co-ordinated approach to managing safeguarding concerns for adults at risk within Newcastle. The MASH has had a sustained and significant increase in referrals and this post is to support with that increase.

You will need to be highly motivated and have the ability, to deal with a large volume of referrals which come into the MASH daily. You should have a commitment to Safeguarding adults at risk and making safeguarding personal. You must be able to identify risk and take appropriate action to minimise future risks. The MASH deals with situations where there is complex abuse, and you need to have the emotional resilience to deal with this. You should also be committed to forging links with our partner agencies who we work closely with as part of the MASH team.

You must have a relevant Social Work qualification such as Degree in social Work, Dip SW, CQSW, CSS or equivalent, be currently registered with Social Work England and have successfully completed your social work progression.

Professional support, supervision and appraisal will be providing by one of the Safeguarding Adults Managers.

Newcastle is a great place to work and some of the benefits of working with us are:

• Generous annual leave plus Bank Holidays with the ability to buy additional leave annually

• Access to a generous, defined benefit pension scheme

• A range of flexible working options, including the ability to take two flexi days per month

• Maternity, Paternity and Adoption Leave

• Working in a supportive team environment

• Training and development opportunities, including coaching and mentoring.

We are committed to protecting and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. This post is working in regulated activity. If you are successful, we will undertake additional recruitment checks which will include a check to see if you have had any criminal convictions, a check of police information and we will check the barred list(s). It is a criminal offence for a barred individual to apply for a job in regulated activity.

As this post involves working with children, vulnerable adults or dealing with sensitive information, written references will be taken up and made available to interviewers before the final selection stage, even if you indicate otherwise.
