This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic Operations Manager to lead and manage our large Grounds Maintenance team across the city, providing a service to both internal and external clients.

About us:

Our Grounds Maintenance team, based at Condercum Road depot, is part of the Local Services and Waste Management division of the city council. The team is responsible for maintaining the grassed and shrub areas around the city, as well as some areas by agreement with YHN and our colleagues in the Leisure Teams.

Our grass cutting and weed maintenance programme in Newcastle includes:

• Residential areas

• Formal sports facilities

• Large parks (Ouseburn, Leazes, Walker, Exhibition, Tyne Riverside and Elswick)

• Grass meadows

The successful candidate will have experience in managing operational staff in the Horticultural Industry showing clear skills that would assist staff in the delivery of a wide range of Grounds Maintenance tasks to a high standard.

Flexibility is also a key requirement as the successful candidate may be required to manage other service areas in Local Services and Waste Management.

The candidate will be able to demonstrate their skills against the essential and desirable criteria within the person specification.
